Kee Travel - Offering one of Wakefield's largest varieties of Day Excursions

Kee Travel is a family run coach company.

To all our valued customers  -  October 2020  -  running excursions:

Following the gradual easing of restrictions and the work we had done with venues and other visitor organisations, we restarted our Day Excursions programme in July.  We have enjoyed getting back out on the road again, after five months of cancellations and processing thousands of refunds it is good to finally be able to welcome you back on board!  And a heartfelt "Thank You" to everyone that has travelled with us this year; your kind words of support are greatly appreciated and have meant a lot.
The effects of the pandemic are still being felt within the travel industry, and we are not immune to the almost daily changes in restrictions on how we operate, where we are permitted to take our passengers and how our destination venues are able to accept visitors.  Inevitably making and communicating changes (including cancelling trips and processing refunds) has impacted on our ability to finish the planning of our forward programme, but please be patient and we will keep website updated with future trips.

The work that we carried out during lockdown to prepare our coaches and to meet the Tourism Industry standard of  "We're Good To Go"  has continued and those of you that have joined us have seen the new standards and thanked us for the work to keep you all safe.  Additional measures that we are taking include: increased frequency cleaning of all touch-points; introducing aerosol based disinfection using a certified high performance anti-viral solution (for effective use against Coronavirus); provision of extra hand sanitiser dispensers on board; checking your temperature when you first join the coach; screens to protect our coach drivers; limiting the capacity of our coaches and changing the way we seat you to minimise contact when boarding, alighting and during the journey; plus we are communicating relevant health messages and safety advice.  The feedback from our passengers makes us confident that you can use our coaches to enjoy travelling again.
You can help us by following the same travel advice as you do for wider public transport: regularly cleaning your hands with soap or hand sanitiser; wear a face covering if you can; observing social distance rules whilst waiting to be picked up; look after your litter; and most importantly if you are showing any of the symptoms of Coronavirus you must stay at home and do not travel.

One big change that you will notice is that we have altered the way that we do our pick ups for each excursion.  For many years we have been using a second coach to collect passengers and bring them to the main coach.  This feeder coach helped to keep the pick up times down to a minimum and it saved everyone time at the start and end of the day.  As a result of the pandemic we have limited the seating capacity of all of our vehicles, and to reduce the contact with our staff and other passengers we have taken the difficult decision not to operate the smaller feeder coach at this time.  You will now join the main coach and take your seat directly from your chosen departure point, with no need to change between coaches.
To minimise the time taken collecting passengers each day we have created two pick up routes, each with a reduced number of departure points.  You will see that you now have a choice between:
Route A (serving Wakefield, Rothwell, Oulton, Castleford, Airedale and Pontefract) and
Route B (serving Wakefield, Normanton, Castleford, Allerton Bywater, Kippax and Garforth).
Both routes serve Castleford Bus Station and Wakefield city centre and we advertise the pick up route for each of our excursions on the website and in the latest brochure.  On the Day Excursions page of our website you can choose to search all of our trips by departure point, or by route - the page will then only display those excursions where we will pick up from your selected usual local departure point.  Our pick up points are for your convenience, and should you wish to board at the last departure point on any excursion please enquire and we will be happy to advise.

Keep safe and well. All of us at Kee Travel look forward to seeing you on board the coach or online at our new Facebook page.

Welcome to our website. We hope that you enjoy browsing the wide variety of trips that we have on offer. We started operating our own Day Excursion Programme called "Destinations" in 1998, offering a variety of days out 12 months of the year.  We celebrated our 22nd Anniversary in February and once again we raised funds for the Prince of Wales Hospice. This year we were pleased to generate over £850 on our anniversary and we express our thanks to everyone that helped us reach this target.  Unfortunately the months that followed haven't been so good, and the same will be true for the Hospice so please don't forget about your local charities this summer.

Our excursions vary considerably throughout the year and include Scenic Drives, Historic Properties, Popular Market Days and Christmas Markets, Meal Venues, Towns and Cities, Antique Fairs, Crafts, Gardening and Flower Shows, Railways, Coastal Venues, Special Event Days, River, Lake and Canal Boat Cruises, Airshows, Food and Drink Festivals, Wildlife Parks and Zoos.  During the school holidays we have a choice of days out to suit everyone's taste, including the kids.

Our aim is to always provide a warm welcome and a friendly service to all our passengers, with allocated seats, discounted fares for adults over 60 and children under 15, and an on-board no smoking policy for passenger comfort. Where possible, you will also have the services of an on-board hostess.
We pride ourselves on being able to offer you a wide choice of day excursions on clean, comfortable coaches fitted with air conditioning and an on-board WC.

With a choice of free local pick up points around the Pontefract, Castleford, Wakefield and south Leeds area of West Yorkshire you should find it easy to join us for an enjoyable day out. A full list of the places where you can board the coach is on the Pick Up Points section of our website and on our printed excursions brochure called "Destinations".  Our latest brochure has been printed with a yellow cover, and it shows with details of all our excursions up to December 2020.  The Coronavirus pandemic has led to many changes being made to our planned excursion programme so the brochure has taken some time to get ready, but we are confident that we have a good selection of trips available for you to choose from. Our website is always maintained with the latest up to date information so you can also see current details of all of our trips here

For a full list of our Booking Agents where you can book seats for any of our day excursions click here, or to book direct with Kee Travel call 01924 223646. Please note that during the Covid19 pandemic some of these booking agents will remain closed to the public, or offer only limited services so may not be taking bookings in the normal manner.  Unfortunately as a consequence of the pandemic the Arriva Travel Centre inside Wakefield bus station has permanently closed.  However we have been able to extend a warm welcome to the team at the Althams Travel Services shop next to the Cathedral on Kirkgate as they become our new city centre Booking Agent.  Call in to see them, pick up a brochure and book on any of our day excursions and say "hello".

Kee Travel Gift Vouchers are also available which make an ideal present, call us for further details.

All of the Kee Travel team look forward to welcoming you on board.
